One tap, one choice, one entire life. Bitlife is a text-based life simulator where every decision — from what to study to whether to answer that late-night call — quietly rewrites the story that follows. It starts at birth and ends whenever your decisions, or bad luck, catch up with you.
About Bitlife
The game plays out as a scrolling log of your character’s life, year by year. You age up on demand and pick from options: go to school, get a job, start a relationship, hit the gym, commit a crime, buy property, or do nothing at all and see what the universe does about it. Careers, education, health and reputation all feed each other, so the straight-A student and the small-time crook live visibly different lives.
There is no winning state, only a life worth reading back. That is the hook: runs are short enough to restart on a whim, but specific enough that a wild mid-life pivot — law school at forty, a sudden lottery win, a very avoidable prison sentence — feels like yours. It is the most addictive kind of idle game, the kind where the content is your own poor judgment.
How to Play
Everything is click-driven. Tap the age button to advance one year, then choose from the menu options that appear — Occupation for jobs and schooling, Relationships for family and romance, Activities for hobbies and health, Mind & Body for stats, and Crime when you feel bold. Pop-ups present decisions with a few choices each; pick one and the log updates. Watch your happiness, health, smarts and looks stats, since they gate opportunities. When your character dies, a new life begins with a fresh set of circumstances — restart as many times as you like.
Tips
- Stay in school early; education unlocks the careers with the best pay curves later on.
- Relationships are a stat engine — keep friends and family happy for support that shows up in emergencies.
- Save the crime runs for after a normal one. It is easier to appreciate chaos from a stable baseline.
